Education

We are the lead provider for Specialist Registrar training in respiratory medicine in south London, and we are developing a new structure for undergraduate medical training with cardiology. We have several innovative training pathways for healthcare professionals such as anaesthetic practitioners, extended-role practitioners and day-stay theatre practitioners.

We have five PhD studentships, and are training 25 PhD students. We have three Medical Research Council/Wellcome Clinical Training Fellowships and two Wellcome Intermediate Fellows.

Research

The CAG have built up a strong cadre of researchers including nurses and allied health professionals and established a mentorship and appraisal system for new researchers. We have recruited into 13 Comprehensive Local Research Networks (CLRN) studies across all King’s Health Partner sites with funding of £367,366. We have also received grants of around £11 million in critical care and anaesthetics, asthma, allergy and lung biology. Our CAG has a Therapies Research Group with a research database across King’s Health Partners.
