Prof Simon Lovestone's opinon - Director of Research 
(January 2012). After it was discovered that citrus fruit juice could prevent scurvy, it took the Royal Navy another 250 years to introduce lime to sailors’ rum ration – despite the fact scurvy was more deadly than combat. The time lag between academic discovery and systematic action isn’t quite that bad in the UK healthcare system. But it can be as long as 17 years. That’s too long. And it gets to the heart of what I believe is our defining purpose as an Academic Health Sciences Centre.  Read more>>


Prof Anne Greenough's opinion - Director of Education and Training 
(February 2011). World-class education and training are fundamental to achieving the vision of King’s Health Partners. This is a time of major change in education and training, not least in the funding and commissioning of education and training, but also in the delivery and setting of healthcare. Across King’s Health Partners we are often asked what added value the Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) and its associated Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs) bring to the table. Our overall ambition, clearly set out in our Strategic Framework, is to achieve better health and well-being for our local population and beyond, and we will ultimately be judged by what we achieve in this respect.
