New opportunity for clinical academic funding

The Medical Research Council (MRC) has launched a new funding scheme, the Clinical Academic Research Partnership, to enable clinicians to contribute to research programmes as part-time co-investigators.

Funding£12 million is available over the first two rounds of the scheme to support NHS consultants who have a PhD or Master’s Degree, but are not currently research active.  The scheme will buy out 30-50% of the clinician’s salary for one to three years and provides a new flexible route for research-qualified NHS consultants to increase their skills and experience.

Applications are invited from relevant clinicians across King’s Health Partners.

Potential applicants should provide a two-page summary of research plans, two-page CV, and short letter of support from the proposed academic partner, by 28 January to Tom Foulkes (thomas.foulkes@kcl.ac.uk).

The deadline for final submission to the MRC is 12 March.

More details can be found on the MRC website.
