New COVID-19 courses available on the Learning Hub

New education and training resources for COVID-19, free to all staff. 

Our Education Academy have been working diligently to create new resources for staff, students and researchers across King’s Health Partners during these unprecedented times.

Take a look at some of the new resources that have been developed over the past few weeks in response to COVID-19, along with invaluable pre-existing courses.

“Quick look” procedure resources for non-critical care staff

King’s Health Partners Education Academy have worked with nursing colleagues to develop unique resources for non-critical care staff asked to move from their normal working environments into critical care areas.

The project led by Prof Louise Rose, Critical Care Nursing in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at King’s College London and Julie Platten, Network Manager and North of England Critical Care Network (NoECCN) Chair resulted in 19 new posters created for staff to refer to while working with patients on wards that are different from their usual places of work.

The guidance covers a number of topics, including how and when to perform procedures, what to do in response to blood pressure alarms, fluid balance and fluid management.

The posters are available on the Learning Hub, along with the NoECCN’s website.

Commenting on the response to help fight coronavirus, Prof Louise Rose said:

The only way we are going to defeat this virus is by pooling all our resources together and sharing knowledge is a critical part.

New COVID-19 category on the Learning Hub

Our King’s Health Partners education team has created a new area on the Learning Hub, dedicated to COVID-19 resources.

Sign-posting to the latest resources and information available during these fast moving times is just one of the ways we can support staff to deliver the best patient care and take care of their own health and wellbeing.

The team continues to adapt Learning Hub materials in light of the evolving situation to ensure our people stay informed and well equipped for their crucial jobs in clinics and research.

Introduction to critical care nursing course

Our long-standing Learning Hub course “introduction to critical care nursing”, is an invaluable resource for nurses keen to refresh their understanding of the essential anatomy and physiology required to look after critical care patients.

Created to support nurses across our partner organisations, the course is laid out in four comprehensive workbooks, covering respiration and ventilation, the cardiovascular system, the renal and gastrointestinal systems, and the neurological system.

Professional development courses

For colleagues readjusting to new ways of working, or looking for opportunities for continued professional development, our Learning Hub has a unique offering for professional development, suitable for clinical and non-clinical staff and students.
