Mind of the Matter – expert-led YouTube playlist tops 100k views

King’s Health Partners, King’s College London, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (NHS FT) have partnered with YouTube to create a series of videos to better inform viewers about the most searched mental health conditions on YouTube.

Mind of the Matter features 12 expert participants from across our organisations. The playlist has 25 films about mental health and has already achieved a total of 104k views, attracting more than 400 new subscribers to our channels.

Our playlist features Professor Sir Simon Wessely, Dr Amita Jassi, Dr Juliana Onwumere, and Professor Ulrike Schmidt. Our top performing video was What is Depression? which was published during a Mental Health Awareness Week campaign on YouTube and featured on the YouTube homepage.

Our vision, together with YouTube, is to empower patients and the public with trusted information to help promote wellbeing and support proper referral to treatment for those experiencing mental ill health.

The series seeks to balance the amount of ‘influencer-led’ content with simple, credible and reliable information from the experts.

How to take part

We will be continuing to add to Mind of the Matter, producing videos on the topics of alcoholism, personality disorder, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, self-harm, eating disorders, and depression.

We will be approaching you, our experts across King’s Health Partners, King’s College London, and South London and Maudsley NHS FT over the next few months to see if you would like to take part in filming a short video to help inform our audiences on these mental health topics.

If you would like to be part of this series, please contact Shey Forbes-Taylor, Digital Content Producer, shey.forbes-taylor@kcl.ac.uk.
