HRH The Prince of Wales met patients and staff at St Thomas’ Hospital during a visit to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the British Geriatrics Society on Monday 6 March.

He spent time chatting to a multi-disciplinary group of staff – including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals – who are leading the way in improving older people’s care both in hospital and community settings.

The royal guest also met patients who have benefited from the expertise of Guy’s and St Thomas’ staff in areas including falls prevention, a proactive approach to supporting older patients before they undergo surgical procedures, and dementia awareness.

The Prince also met Little Dorrit, a tiny dog that visits older patients in hospital as part of the Pets as Therapy scheme.
