Transfusion Camp is a transfusion education programme which was established in 2012 at the University of Toronto for post graduate trainees. It has been running in Oxford since 2016/2017 and was launched for the first time at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in 2021. We are pleased to offer the programme for 2025/26 commencing October 2025 as part of King’s Health Partners.

The course is free (no cost to trainees) and spaces will be offered on a first come first served basis.

The programme in Toronto consists of four full days teaching over the academic year. We will run the course online and deliver seven seminars on MS Teams to groups of approx. eight. Each seminar is roughly 90 minutes long and usually runs on a Friday at 8:30am to work around shift patterns. There are a number of pre-reads and lecture materials to work through in your own time before each seminar. Trainees will need to attend all sessions to receive a certificate of completion at the end of the programme.

Our programme runs a little behind the Toronto schedule to allow for the lectures to be uploaded online.

A knowledge test of transfusion medicine is conducted before and after the programme.
