Education and training

King’s Health Partners Cardiovascular provides an extensive and distinctive range of postgraduate scientific research training (PGR) programmes.

We have a strong track record of training and mentoring early career non-clinical and clinical academic fellows, and the School of Cardiovascular Medicine and Sciences holds an Athena Swan Silver Charter Award.

We offer NHS-based educationeducational activities including the coordination and delivery of training for specialist registrars in cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and clinical pharmacology, as well as the training of clinical scientists and specialist nurses.

King’s Health Partners Cardiovascular has a broad range of partnerships with commercial education providers.

For example, PCR London Valves is the world’s largest educational meeting dedicated to valvular heart disease with a global faculty and more than 2,500 participants, and our combined clinical teams have extensive experience of live case demonstrations to global audiences exceeding 10,000 and transmit innovative procedures live at the most prestigious international meetings in interventional cardiology.

The future

We are examining new ways of working, with a particular need for seven-day coverage across all disciplines.

This has created an exciting opportunity for King’s Health Partners Cardiovascular to support the development of healthcare practitioners across the entire multidisciplinary team to enhance their skills and work towards advanced practice.

Our vision is to create a taught postgraduate programme accredited by King’s College London for allied health professionals and nurses which will support the career development of our staff and improve outcomes for our patients through the dissemination of best practice.
