In summer 2025 King's Health Partners (KHP) piloted a student internship programme. The students worked on projects with colleagues from the KHP central team and founding partner organisations. Aman Rashid took part in the programme and is now sharing their reflections in this great KHPeople profile.
What have you been working on as part of your KHP summer internship?
During my internship, I helped organise the Graft versus Host Disease (GVHD) Preceptorship and the Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Together Conference, coordinating logistics and supporting speaker engagement to ensure both events ran smoothly. I also contributed to the HaemPearls podcast series, producing episodes that educate clinicians and other healthcare professionals on haematology topics alongside expert speakers, covering subjects such as pancytopenia. These projects deepened my appreciation of how education and collaboration can strengthen learning across the haematology community.
What have you enjoyed most about your experience working with KHP?
I’ve really enjoyed seeing how healthcare professionals from different backgrounds come together with a shared goal of improving patient care. It’s been rewarding to watch events I helped organise unfold successfully and to learn more about haematology along the way. I’ve especially valued the sense of teamwork and collective enthusiasm for education and improvement.
What inspired you to take on this role?
I was inspired by the opportunity to combine my passion for education with my growing interest in haematology. The internship offered a unique chance to contribute to meaningful learning initiatives while gaining insight into how education can drive better clinical outcomes. I wanted to be part of a team that translates knowledge into real impact for patients and professionals alike.
What have you learned about working in partnership?
This experience has shown me how powerful collaboration can be when everyone brings their unique expertise to the table. Working alongside clinicians, educators, and administrators taught me the importance of communication, adaptability, and shared purpose. True partnership isn’t just about dividing tasks, it’s about creating something stronger together.
What advice do you have for someone starting an internship?
Be proactive, ask questions, and take every opportunity to learn. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone or volunteer for new tasks, as it’s often where the most growth happens. Most importantly, enjoy the experience and take pride in contributing to projects that make a real difference.
KHP Haematology aspires to be a world-leading, patient-centred clinical academic partnership.
