Uncovering the contributions and costs of family caregiving
Family carers provide vital support for patients with cancer towards the end-of-life, but we have limited data on the scale of this contribution and its impact on carers at a population level.
This seminar reports findings from a census survey of bereaved carers in England. Factors explored include the time and tasks contributed by carers, as well as their potential economic value. The impact of caring in terms of expenditure, changes to work, and mental and physical health outcomes, are described.
