Welcome to King’s Health Partners - “Meet the expert” – global, clinical seminar series which we host in collaboration with our partners the European University Hospital Alliance.
Taking place once a week on Tuesdays at 1pm (BST), each session will have a 15-minute expert presentation, followed by 15 minutes for questions and answers with the speaker.
The next seminar is taking place on Tuesday 29 June, with Prof Jian Yang, Professor, Tongji University School of Medicine, on "Directional differentiation of stem cells into pacemaker cells for development and clinical application of biological pacemaker."
Prof Jian Yang works at the Tongji University School of Medicine. After awarded PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Fudan University, he joined Professor Austin Smith’s lab in University of Edinburgh, then University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral research fellow. There he started his career as a stem cell biologist, working on the molecular mechanism of pluripotent stem cells and somatic cell reprogramming.
Then, he moved to Dr Pentao Liu’s lab at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where he continued his research in stem cell and reprogramming. In 2019, he became group leader in Key Laboratory of Arrhythmias, Ministry of Education, Tongji University School of Medicine. Currently, his research covers the mechanism of different stem cell state transition, cellular reprogramming and directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into cardiomyocytes. His research has been published in Nature, Nature Protocols, Cell Stem Cell, Stem Cell Reports and Stem Cells and more. His lab is funded by National Science Foundation of China.
