The grand round will be chaired by Prof Heinz Jungbluth, Professor of Paediatric Neurology, King’s College London, and Consultant Paediatric Neurologist, Evelina Children's Hospital, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, and member of the KHP Rare Disease Network Steering Committee.
Topics and speakers:
Local mRNA Translation Dynamics as a Therapeutic Target in Neurodegenerative Disease
Dr Richard Taylor, Race Against Dementia - Alzheimer’s Research UK Fellow at the UK Dementia Research Institute at King’s College London
Richard is a Race Against Dementia - Alzheimer’s Research UK Fellow based at the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology (Houart Lab) and UK Dementia Research Institute at King’s (Ruepp Lab). His research investigates how local RNA regulation within axons, dendrites, and synapses supports neuronal function during healthy ageing, and how its disruption contributes to neurodegenerative diseases.
Repeat expansion disorders
Dr Zhongbo Chen, Consultant Neurologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Senior Lecturer, Queen Mary University of London
Zhongbo is a neurology consultant with specialist interest in neurogenetics and Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Preventive Neurology, Queen Mary University of London. She is also an honorary senior research fellow at the UK Dementia Research Institute. Her research focuses on improving diagnosis and understanding of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular, of repeat-expansion ataxias.
