Ask The Institute Neurosciences

Ask the Institute is a responsive research advisory service for clinical and managerial staff in neurosciences. It offers hands-on advice and support in:

  • developing research proposals (particularly for those new to research);
  • evidence informed service improvement and service development;
  • robust evaluation of changes to service delivery.

The service started in KHP Women and Children’s Health Clinical Academic Partnership, and now that team has extended the offer to King’s Health Partners Neurosciences staff.

King’s Health Partners Neurosciences clinical and academic expertise comes from three leading NHS Foundation Trusts - Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital, and South London and Maudsley - and one of the world’s top research-led universities, King’s College London.

Collectively King’s Health Partners Neurosciences provides a comprehensive clinical neurosciences service, which is one of the largest in the country with many excellent outcomes. The university activity is based in the second largest neuroscience division in the UK.

What happens when you get in touch?

Ask the Institute provides a bespoke service as each enquiry is unique.

Example queries:

  • How do we enable patient-initiated follow-ups?
  • How many patients should I recruit to my study?
  • What is the best way to analyse my data?

The team acknowledge receipt of initial enquiries and will contact you to arrange a follow-up conversation to clarify your research or evaluation needs, timescales and available funding.

Based on the follow-up conversation Ask the Institute will develop a research brief, which includes information on the background to your enquiry, aims and objectives of your enquiry, and what our researchers will provide.

Once you are happy with this research brief, a research proposal with clear deliverables and, if appropriate funding expectations are agreed.

Once all are happy with the plan, the research work begins.
