The Armed Forces Community includes serving personnel, reservists, veterans, families, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and those connected to defence. This is a diverse population with unique health, social and occupational needs - requiring coordinated, evidence-informed approaches across healthcare, research, education, and policy.
The CAG builds on the collective strengths of KHP's four founding partnerships. Working with defence, NHS, academic, charity, and community partners - the CAG aims to connect existing activity, accelerate innovation and translate research into meaningful improvements in care.
Our vision is to harness the unique power of KHP - combining world-leading academic expertise with large, integrated clinical systems - to transform outcomes for the Armed Forces Community.
By bringing together mind and body, research, and care - we aim to lead locally, nationally and internationally in delivering holistic, evidence-driven solutions.
Our priorities
The Armed Forces Community CAG is focused on:
- improving personalised care, access, and navigation across services;
- advancing research and innovation in Armed Forces Community health and wellbeing;
- developing and supporting an Armed Forces-aware workforce;
- influencing policy through evidence, advocacy and system leadership;
- enabling meaningful community collaboration and co-production;
- harnessing digital and population health tools to better identify needs and reduce inequalities;
- strengthening strategic partnerships across healthcare, academia, defence, and the third sector.
Through these priorities, the CAG will support a more coordinated, visible, and impactful approach across KHP. The CAG will move towards a shared programme of work that improves access, experience, and outcomes for those who serve, have served and their families.
