The third round of the King’s Health Partners Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM) Postdoctoral Clinical Research Excellence Fellowships have been awarded.
This scheme offers two-year funding of protected time for postdoctoral clinical fellows to continue their translational research work and develop competitive external grant applications for independent fellowships.
The selection process for the fellowships was highly competitive, with patient representatives and clinical academics from across King’s Health Partners involved at every stage.
We received 23 applications, which represents a 53% increase from last year. Nine applicants were shortlisted and invited to interview - seven Doctors, one Clinical Scientist, and one Midwife.
Five of those applicants have been awarded a CTM Postdoctoral Clinical Research Excellence Fellowship:
- Antonio Cannata - Epidemiology and long-term outcomes of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in cancer patients treated with anthracyclines.
- Carlos Jimenez-Vicente - Interpretable Deep Learning for Multi-Omic and MRD-Informed Risk Assessment in Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
- Katherine Clark - PERFORM (PERipartum Fluid titration Or Routine Management): A feasibility study of a midwife-led, digital early warning pathway for individualised peripartum fluid management.
- Khrishanthne Sambasivan - Imaging Cancer Stem Cells for Precision Treatment of Therapy-Resistant Breast Cancer.
- Rouvick Gama - Transforming Prevention of Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic Disease with Point-of-Care Testing and an Integrated Care Pathway (PREVENT-CVRM).
The Centre for Translational Medicine brings together the organisations of King’s Health Partners and generous funding from the Guy's and St Thomas' Charity to work in partnership to improve the health of people locally, nationally, and globally, accelerating targeted, sustainable and more equitable health outcomes for patients and communities across south east London and beyond.
