More than 5,000 Southwark residents have benefited from health checks delivered by clinicians at Francis House Vaccination Centre, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
The Vital 5 Check is offered to residents who visit for a vaccination appointment, measuring their blood pressure, weight, mental health, and alcohol and smoking habits. The team also visits communities that may face barriers to accessing services, ensuring they can get their health checked in a familiar environment.
By checking these five areas regularly, we can find and manage health risks earlier and reduce the prevalence of conditions such as kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke.
As part of the check, residents receive a personal booklet which provides a useful overview of their health and tips on improvements they can make. They’re also signposted to further support and can be referred to specific services where needed.

Almost 2,000 residents have also received the Vital 5 Check as part of Southwark Council’s health roadshows which cover community events and venues across the borough.
Vital 5 Checks are available to residents across a range of settings in south east London, including local pharmacies, digital kiosks, outreach events, and a community wellbeing hub. The check is free and can take between 5-30 minutes depending on your needs – visit our website to take control of your health today.
